The way is the destination

Life isn’t meant to be easy at all times. In times of great difficulty, we grow, learn and evolve. Whatever happens or whatever lessons life throws at you, always try to achieve your biggest goals and dreams. What is it that you want your life to look like? Who do you want to be? What do you want to achieve? Find out what is holding you back from doing that.

And once you know, you need to start acting on it. Don’t delay out of fear. It is normal to feel fear of the unknown. If you feel excitement and fear at the same time, then this fear is healthy; it means that you are on the right track! It is time to stop holding on to the past and step into the unknown. The first steps will be very difficult, just like every beginning is. It is important that you stay consistent and keep pushing through. It will get easier over time, as humans we are very adaptable! But that doesn’t mean you can just sit back and think that everything will take care of itself. Being stagnant means that the next time you try, things will get harder.

I witness this myself all the time. When I give myself a day off from the things that are important to me, like eating healthy and working out, I fall into bad old habits and it’s hard to get out. I really didn’t feel like running today and the temptation of staying in my PJ’s and hang around on the couch was very alluring. But I went for a run anyway and I was so glad I did! The first five minutes were so hard and I felt like I wasn’t moving forward at all. But then that famous runner’s high kicked in and I finished my run with a smile and it gave me the energy I needed to get some other things done today!

So give it your all and enjoy this process. Don’t think about the destination or the goal all the time. Leave some space to smell the flowers along the way! And before you know it, you will gain confidence in yourself, you will start to believe in yourself and you will get stronger. You will notice that you have always had this strength within you, that little spark that has now grown into a blazing fire within you. And then suddenly, one day, you will have reached the top of the mountain that seemed so hard to overcome. Now you can enjoy your results, enjoy the view and be proud of the road you have taken! Your new lifestyle has become a habit and will seem effortless to you.
